Justin Sun’s Representatives Issue Statement Regarding Bloomberg’s Breach of its Confidentiality Obligation

This week, a U.S. judge declined to grant Justin Sun’s request for interim relief against Bloomberg. That is not a decision on the merits–it simply reflects the high standard courts apply to early injunctions. Nor does it validate Bloomberg’s conduct or the accuracy of its reporting. While Mr. Sun disagrees with the decision, he respects the judicial process. He is confident in his claims.

This case is straightforward: Bloomberg broke a contractual promise of confidentiality. They published information they agreed to keep private, and some of it was inaccurate. They want to pretend this is about the First Amendment. It is not. The First Amendment does not give media companies a right to breach contracts or spread misinformation. The First Amendment protects against the government gagging the press and preventing free speech (that’s prior restraint). That, however, is not the issue at hand. This is about accountability, privacy, and the basic principle that, in the law, when you make a promise that other people rely on, you’re bound to keep it. To make matters worse, some of what they published was blatantly inaccurate.

Let’s be clear: this case isn’t just about Justin. It’s about whether communities globally, and particularly in the crypto community, will be treated fairly or be constantly smeared by outlets for clicks. Privacy is more important than ever as the world becomes increasingly digital and transparent. Crypto empowers people. Media outlets that breach a promise confidentiality and misstate facts disempowers people.

In a fast-moving industry like crypto, journalistic integrity is not optional, it is essential. Accuracy and fairness matter to millions of blockchain developers, innovators, and users who rely on trustworthy information to make decisions and build their projects. When media outlets choose narrative over facts, they do a disservice to the entire blockchain industry. Mr. Sun will continue to challenge misinformation wherever it appears and remain steadfast in defending our collective right of privacy.
